Laura Resen is a professional photographer and visual artist based in Northern California and New York. She was trained in the Fine Art program at The Cooper Union in New York City.

Laura has worked in the field of photography since 1982. She began her career as a fashion model in Paris, New York, and Milan while still in school, shooting with masters including Richard Avedon, Peter Lindberg, and Mario Testino. She gained further experience in publishing and production as a picture editor and art director for magazines such as Vogue, House and Garden, and Departures, as well as for distinguished art-publishing houses such as Abrams Books and Rizzoli.

During residencies in both Paris and New York in the 1990s, Laura moved behind the camera. She started as a fashion photographer, shooting film stills, and as a correspondent for travel and interior design magazines. Her work subsequently expanded into commercial photography for a wide range of high-end fashion, hospitality, and home design brands.

Today, Laura balances editorial and commercial projects, shooting for magazines, style books, advertising, and catalog clients. In recent years, she has also returned to a broader creative director role. She is skilled at leading the conceptual and planning stages of both campaigns and ongoing publishing programs, to team and location management, and post-production. In these varied capacities, Laura creates images that are elegant, artistic, and on-brand.

Laura’s ongoing fine art practice over the last thirty years adds both craft and depth to her professional portfolio. Her artwork in photography, painting, and drawing is held in many prominent private, corporate, and museum collections.
